We are fortunate in the fact that Liverpool has the greatest concentration of grade 2 listed buildings outside London and pride ourselves in having been chosen to work on a significant number of them in the past.
The reinforced concrete and steel framed buildings of the early and mid-twentieth century represent examples of architecture and construction techniques that signify the culture of society at that time.
Most of these structures require regular maintenance to sustain their long term durability. The work requires sympathetic repairs, using traditional materials and methods. We take great pride in the fact that we have been entrusted with the task of breathing new life into some of our greatest structures.
Clan specialise in the field of heritage repair to buildings of historical significance. Coupled with our understanding of traditional build and repair techniques, we are able to apply appropriate and sympathetic solution to minimise repairs and enhance durability.
Many early twentieth century structures suffer from corrosion brought on by moisture penetration through weak concrete or mortar mix, causing cracks to occur in the façade. Clan protection systems stop corrosion problems from re-occurring through cost effective solutions which fully comply with all building regulation requirements.
For buildings with listed status, Clan aims wherever possible to source materials used in the construction to match the existing design and textural finish. Working closely with English Heritage and other conservation professionals, we are proud to have been involved in the repair and maintenance of some of the country’s most iconic and well-loved buildings.
